Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What areas does Fenora serve?
Fenora serves Winnipeg, Brandon, Portage la Prairie, Steinbach, Winkler, Morden, and Altona, with more Southern Manitoba communities planned as we grow. See our full Locations page for details on each community.
Are your caregivers licensed?
Our general caregiving team — companionship, homemaking, personal care — is Fenora-trained and Fenora-Certified through our in-house training program. Manitoba doesn't regulate this role, so there's no license to hold, and we won't claim one that doesn't exist. For medication administration, wound care, and other regulated tasks, we bring in an independent RN or LPN holding an active license through the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) or the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM). See our Nursing Care page for more.
How are caregivers trained and vetted?
Every caregiver completes a criminal record check, reference checks, and Fenora's in-house training program before working with clients. We also use The Fenora Match to pair caregivers with families based on needs, schedule, and personality fit.
How is pricing determined?
Pricing is hourly and depends on the type of care (companionship and homemaking, personal care, or nursing care), the hours needed, and scheduling. See our Cost of Care page for directional ranges, or ask us for a personalized estimate.
How quickly can care start?
It depends on caregiver availability in your area and the complexity of the match. Reach out and we'll give you a realistic timeline based on your specific situation — we move as quickly as a good match allows.
What happens if my caregiver is unavailable for a scheduled visit?
We arrange backup coverage so a single caregiver's unavailability doesn't leave your family without care. We'll always let you know ahead of time when a substitute is stepping in.
What if the caregiver isn't the right fit?
Tell us and we'll act on it. Getting the match right is the point of our process, but if a pairing isn't working, we'll find a better fit quickly rather than making your family stick it out.
Is there a minimum number of hours?
Minimums can depend on service type and scheduling. Ask us directly during your intake conversation and we'll be upfront about what applies to your situation.
What's your cancellation policy?
We ask for reasonable advance notice to cancel or reschedule a visit so we can adjust caregiver schedules fairly. We'll walk you through the specifics when you set up care.
Do you work alongside publicly funded home care programs?
Yes. Fenora is a private-pay provider, but we're glad to work alongside Manitoba's publicly funded home care programs — filling in additional hours or different kinds of support rather than competing with what families already have in place. See Funding & Government Programs for more.
Do I have to commit to an ongoing schedule?
No. Many families start with respite or trial-basis care to see how it goes before committing to a regular schedule. See our Respite Care page.
